The Department is saddled with function of promoting and implementing Information Communication Technology integration in the Commission and Service Wide.

The Department works with Recruitment and Appointment Department in the Recruitment process for the Service, Supervises all Online Upload of Job Application as Approved by the Commission. Gives support in the area of Online Screening and Computer Based Testing of Applicants when and where necessary.

The ICT Department gives technical support to the Promotion Department especially during its Annual Service Wide Promotion Exercise when a Cyber Hub has to be built and managed. The approach of the Department in the above two Departmental Supports that is Recruitment and Promotion is to give it the Human Resources Information System platform of ICT.

Internally, the Department gives General Information Technology Support to all Departments in the area of software application, system installation and minor repairs. It conducts ICT Training and Awareness campaigns for Employees of the Commission in Conjunction with the Human Resources and Administration Directorate.

The Department Serves on the Service Wide Individual Personnel Payroll Integrated System-IPPIS Committee and it has been on the Service Wide Performance Management System Review Team since its initiation.

The major focus of the Department is to drive and promote the E-Government Programme of the Federal Government to the extent that all MDAs would be integrated and information can be shared and used seamlessly amongst them.

The Department works and liaises regularly with the following Government Agencies: NITDA, Head of Service of the Federation, Galaxy Back Bone, FEPAR, BPSR and seemingly related MDAs.

The Department is duly represented on the Service Wide Heads of Information Communication Technology Forum by the most senior personnel or any authorized representative.

On the whole the Commission’s Mandate imposes its influence on the Department by pushing its ICT Integration and penetration Service Wide in an effort to achieve the E-Government destination of the Federal Government.
